ABL CEO Sang Hoon Lee is among the first wave of biotech entrepreneurs in Korea. After leading the biosimilars program at Hanwha Chemical, part of a Korean chaebol whose businesses spanned multiple industrial sectors, Lee co-founded antibody company PharmAbcine Inc. (KOSDAQ:208340) with another executive among Korea’s biotech vangaurd, Jin-San Yoo.
While Lee did not spend time at LG Life Sciences Ltd., a breeding ground for many of the leaders of the country’s earliest start-ups, his experience at Western biotechs and Hanwha gave him connections to VCs in the region that helped find and attract investors.
